Scientists say that without intelligence, learning is impossible. Well, how true is this statement? Does it mean that if you’re not naturally intelligent you can’t learn? Does it mean learning is all dependent on natural intelligence? Now, here is some truth that we all need to hear before we can start beating ourselves for not being naturally intelligent.
One French psychologist called Binet says; “Intelligence is not a simple quality or power, but a complex of abilities” So are abilities innate or learned? Well, this same science that we learn, states that most human abilities are learned and acquired over time.
Other than those abilities that come as a result of genetic composition, any other ability can be learned in the course of a lifetime. So, cheer up because even if you are not naturally intelligent, with the right guidance, you can acquire this ability and be able to learn like any other person.
What is Natural intelligence?
Naturalistic intelligence is the ability to recognize, analyze, and manipulate objects, creatures, and vegetation in the environment. Natural intelligence is said to be the act of human beings being able to use their brains, thinking abilities, and memory to identify, analyze and manipulate different aspects of life.
How does natural Intelligence affect learning?
As stated earlier, intelligence is a necessary part of learning. Now, how exactly is intelligence related to learning? In learning, intelligence is the measure of a person’s ability to learn. In other words, we can say that the degree of intellect influences the effectiveness of learning. This implies that lack of Natural intelligence does not mean zero learning. It only means that how quick or how effective the person learns is slightly different from the rest. It only means that students with natural intelligence will learn much easier and faster compared to the rest.
Conclusion
Lack of natural intelligence means a slight difference in learning, but learning is possible with the right guidance. Intelligence being an ability just like any other ability, it is learned. You need to know that if you have difficulties in learning does not mean that you do not have a future or that you can never amount to anything. What you need is proper guidance and rightful learning strategies that will boost your ability to learn. This is where people like me (Education Specialist) come in as of great importance. Education Specialists help students with these disabilities to learn effectively.
“I don’t think natural intelligence matters that much. It is about what you do, how hard you work. Work hard and work on what matters.”
Desmond Fambrini
So go ahead and test yourself. Work on what you can do. You will be surprised by much you will be able to do for yourself if only you did what matters. Anyone can learn despite the challenges.
